October 8, 2007: 2007 Innovative Teaching Grants Awarded to Watauga County Public School Teachers

Boone, NC
– Twenty-two Watauga County Public School teachers are receiving grants from the Watauga Education Foundation for the 2007-2008 School Year.  The creative proposals were chosen from more than 42 applications requesting nearly $62,000 in supplemental funding.

“Our team had a very difficult time choosing the winners this year,” said Foundation Allocations Chairman Dr. Jay Fenwick. “He added, “The teachers in this community are so enthusiastic about creating an enriching environment for the students, and their requests mirrored that passion.  We wish we could have funded them all.”

Hundreds of students across Watauga County will benefit from the grants, which focus on every subject including Geography, Science, Literacy and of course, the arts.  The winners are as follows:
