Our Vision

To improve and enhance the success of every student in the Watauga County School System.

To enrich student learning for all Watauga County public school students by effectively promoting innovative educational experiences for children that will inspire every student to achieve.

For nearly 20 years the Watauga Education Foundation, through the generous support of this community, has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to WCS teachers to fund projects and programs that fall outside state and local budgets. These creative endeavors introduce and reinforce arts and enrichment activities to our children, improve graduation rates, and increase community participation in each of our public schools.

The Foundation also administers annual continuing education scholarships for Watauga County Public School teachers, in conjunction with Blue Ridge Electric Membership Co-op.

The Foundation raises money through private donations and various initiatives including Shooting Stars in April – a premier arts event that allows hundreds of students, representing every school in the county to showcase their visual and performing arts talents each year, and the annual Flapjack Flip event held in December. Our annual pancake breakfast and limited raffle provides families with craft shopping and an opportunity, for fellowship and fun prior to the Downtown Boone Holiday Parade!
